The Story
On February 14th, 1958, Marian (a lonely librarian) takes a shortcut home down a deserted New York City alleyway. Roused from her thoughts by a desperate cry for help, she discovers a "fearsome" bat-cat hybrid. Touched by the monster's naivete and desperation, Marian names him Valentine and takes him home to her two precocious cats. Conflicts, abandonment, and fantastical adventures involving balletic bats and beatnik rats ensue.
